About Wilpattu National Park
Wilpattu National Park is Sri Lanka's largest and one of the oldest national parks, covering 1,317 km² of dense jungle in the North-Western Province. It is world-famous for having the highest density of wild leopards in the country.
The park is unique for its villus — ancient natural lakes with white sandy beaches that attract an incredible concentration of wildlife. The stunning landscape of dense jungle, open grasslands and shimmering lakes makes every game drive a different experience.
Besides leopards, Wilpattu is home to elephants, sloth bears, buffalo, spotted deer, jackals, crocodiles, and over 200 species of birds. Located just 30 minutes from Anuradhapura, it is the most convenient major safari park in Sri Lanka.
